It is one of the 7,107 islands (low tide) of the Philippines. I got the great opportunity to visit this beautiful island for a weekend back in 2007 with my uncles, aunts, and 2 cousins. We stayed at the city of Puerto Princesa where the water is amazingly clear and serene. If I get another chance to visit Palawan again, I would love to visit the paradise city of El Nido…

Touristy stuff: White sandy beaches, Crocodile farm, Island hopping, The Subterranean River National park (underground river/cave with natural formations), Rancho Sta. Monica (Sta Monica Ranch), Baker’s hill

Favorite area to shop in: The marketplace (palengke) of course hehe…
Favorite thing to do: oh it’s hard to pick… I’d have to say the underground river and hopping from one island to another via bangka boat…
Favorite thing to eat: The fresh crabs we had for lunch at this one island(yum)
Coincidental experience: We met a Canadian couple backpackers after the underground river who we helped get settled in the hotel we were staying at. They were ESL teachers in Japan. At the time, I was interested in teaching English abroad so they provided me info. on how to go about it. They were the ones who introduced El Nido to me, showing us pictures of their trip. They fell in love with the city of El Nido so much that they went back the last 2 days of their trip.

I am just now realizing how I appreciate discovering the city of Palawan. I actually never knew anything about the city before going on the trip. Overall, I am very thankful for the experience.
